Our Process
Aim of our process is to create safe spaces to give children of trauma the courage to imagine an alternative future.
Emotions are real when a child is listening to stories because their thinking capacity is enhanced. They begin to feel for the characters, get involved in their lives, and
understand their struggles.
This helps them develop feelings like empathy, compassion, happiness among others. In addition it helps visualize spoken words, improved vocabulary, and more refined communication skills.

Safe Haven Libraries to
Unleash Imagination
Power of stories is taken to orphanages and schools for disabilities by converting spaces into libraries. These transformed rooms become safe spaces for children to listen to stories being read aloud weekly by our volunteers, explore the books and participate in informal groups conducting creative activities to discuss and talk about what the stories mean to them on an emotional and practical level.
Tracking our Fireflies
Our psychologists keep track of every single child’s development.
Some assessments that we regularly conduct, include:
Children’s Assessment
The organization is currently using the Social Emotional Growth Questionnaire. This is a quantitative measure of assessment.
It is a self-report that measures various factors such as Hope, Scholastic Competence, Social Competence, Physical Appearance and Behavioral Conduct.
The assessment is a pre and post measure, where the pre will provide the baseline data, and the post data after a period of 9 months, should be able to represent a change in the responses of the children.
Caregiver’s Assessment
In addition to children’s assessment, caregiver’s assessment corroborates the children’s data. This survey is from the caregiver’s perspective of the child’s social skills as well as emotional competence.
Qualitative Assessments
Conducting children interviews during the period between the quantitative pretest and post-test aims to substantiate the quantitative data through qualitative assessments.
Instant Feedback
Just as another qualitative measure, this is a quick online poll conducted once a month.
The child is required to rate their feelings post the session. Instant feedback forms helps a regular statistic of child’s feeling on an average, post a storytelling session.

COVID provided an opportunity to leverage technology for training in 3 major areas – Trauma, Storytelling & Children’s behavior to our volunteers to enable them to provide the best service to our children.
